PeterMM1 Posted February 14, 2021 Share #1 Posted February 14, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) I bit the bullet and sold off some gear to fund a MM246 and had a chance on this rainy day to test her out at the local antique mall. I'm used to the MM1 files and the MM246 seem to need less adjustment to get them where I like.....very happy with this camera so far. It's way faster in processing files and the battery life seems excellent. I love the larger screen and especially that it's sapphire! I have had sapphire watch faces on quite a few watches and they never scratch...not even a hint of a scratch on any of them. The increased ISO/ASA is a very nice addition and fingers crossed it won't develop the notorious corrosion issue that is haunting my MM1 right now...:( some of the first photos...all taken today with the MM246 and my tiny little Voigtlander Nokton Classic 35 1.4...I love this little lens especially without the front shade. It's so compact and takes excellent photos.....also pretty inexpensive, especially as used which I always buy. Welcome, dear visitor! I believe that only happened to the M9 CCD sensor and never to any of the M240 or M10 generation cameras (but maybe that is what you implied with the question? 🤔🙂)

mmradman Posted February 14, 2021 Share #6 Posted February 14, 2021 Sensor cover glass corrosion was only reported on M9 camera and derivatives (M9M, M-E). Also on early S camera models with CCD sensor. This problem has nothing to do with type of sensor but cover glass that was selected at the time, massive design fail. Peter, congratulation on M246, it is a proper work horse. I am into sixth year of ownership, it works today as it worked on day one. Maybe time to consider changing user name with MM1 being sent into infirmary, also post in M246 image thread - pinned in Mono area here.

Yes I love the MM246....but like all things in life there's just something about the MM1 that draws me to it...probably all it's imperfections just work to create an image...:) My MM1 is actually not very bad and total usable. There are only a couple of small spots on the sensor that I notice and it's a very quick fix in PP when necessary. Most times almost unnoticeable. I've seen some pretty bad cases of corrosion and mine is nowhere near that. I'm just totally anal about my gear....:) Edited February 14, 2021 by PeterMM1

Peter these have wonderful tonal range, but more importantly it , for me, captures a sense of place. Congratulations!
