RBB Posted February 13, 2021 Share #1 Posted February 13, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Quite a bit of bad luck today, my Panasonic 70-200mm f/2.8 accidentally came off the teleconverter. Actually twice bad luck, firstly that the lens fell off and secondly that it hit the only rock that was there besides snow. It is a warning for others that also use the teleconverters from Panasonic. I really don't no why they have chosen to use a push button to release the lens from the teleconverter. I wore thick gloves because of the cold (-11 Celsius) and carry my camera with a strap around my shoulder en leave the camera hang on hip. I saw some deer and quickly grabbed my camera. By doing so I pushed accidentally the button (you only have to press it just a little to release) on the teleconverter and the lens dropt on the ground. It wasn't the first time, I already had some narrow escapes before. Unbelievable that they chose this design. Welcome, dear visitor! toyfel Posted February 13, 2021 Share #4 Posted February 13, 2021 Thank you for the warning. That's really a serious case of very bad luck what happened to you. Would a Sigma L-mount teleconverter work with your Panasonic lens? Their release mechanism seems to be considerably safer. But, of course, even it works well it would mean a couple hundred EUR extra expense.
Daniel C.1975 Posted February 13, 2021 Share #5 Posted February 13, 2021 Shi##. That‘s a real pitty. I hope the repair will not be too expensive. The design is really not good. Daniel

beewee Posted February 14, 2021 Share #7 Posted February 14, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) I’m not familiar with the Panasonic teleconverter. Are you saying that you just push the button and the lens pops off without needing to twist the lens off the bayonet mount?

No there is a need for twist, happens in the same movement.
