Please forgive me if this has been discussed before, but I can`t recall having seen any discussion on this. I have a Panasonic S1R. I charge the battery, then take some shots and I perhaps lose one or 2 bars in the battery status indicator, but then suddendly the battery goes empty and there is no "warning" in the form of bars on the indicator.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Sounds like a bad battery to be honest. I recall my S1R used a lot of battery power anyway but especially when I had the IBS turned on.

Perhaps this is so. I actually ordered a new one so let me see if this is any better.

Ivar,

Have you checked the "battery health" (green bars) in the Battery Information tab of the menu?  This is not to be confused with the remaining battery level (shown as five white bars or a numeric percentage).

Four green bars indicate good battery health.  I have four batteries for my S1H and they all work without any sudden drain issues like you describe.

I have not - many thanks for pointing this out.
