Q2 - lines above 800 ASA?

From 1600 ASA upwards, my images from the Q2 start showing aspherical horizontal lines. I am not sure this is classic 'banding' or rather some other issue. Does anyone else experience this? I enclose a well exposed sample (taken at 3.200 ASA) and the same at +1 and +2 exposure. Check out the top right quadrant.

In the next post, I enclose an image at 50.000 ASA in order to see the aspherical shape of the lines.

3.200ASA - 1/60 - f1.7 - 28mm - normal exposure

This image, taken at 50.000 ASA, shows the aspherical nature of the lines.

Even with the mechanical shutter?

I have to test the difference between mechanical and electronic still. Will also do comparison against my Canon 5DSR. Will report back.

What type lighting are these photos taken with?
LED lights can cause strange banding.

I have a bunch of photos like this, most are with natural light. However, in the photo of the lady cooking she is being lit by her own cell phone.

Does someone have any idea? This happens with all my photos above 800 ASA, independent of how they have been lit. It's not normal I think, and certainly doesn't give me trust when I photograph with this camera. Some of my very best recent photos have been ruined by this problem.

Cell phone screens are lcd screens which do have the potential for banging, but natural light shouldn’t.

Well, they can bang too, but i understood that they create banding 🙂

As far i see right, the banding is much less on the first shot without pushing stops.
I personally never use pushing stops as usually cameras will create noise or banding, i work with exposure time and lens f/stops

However, shooting long time exposures either without tripod or even slightly moving motives will not work well, so cranking up ISO and exposure stops would be the only solution.
Or a wireless flash with very reduced power and positioned in the right position (behind the lady in this case) would lower the light difference between her face and the dark sorroundings.
But this would destroy the "street photography" approach as she would get "nervous" and  look in a different way.
