Comparing the V4 (far right) to V3 (center) and V5 (left). Results as expected.

How would you compare the V4 to V3? I sold my ASPH v1, and have the V3, but considering adding a mint V4, I found at a good price.

On V4 the overall IQ improves over V3, it somewhat loses the "glow" wide open also edges improve to a certain level. The V4 is the most "classic yet modern" 35 Summicron wrapped in one package. No wonder it is so popular.

Thanks, great explanation. Would you have both? And which do you prefer of the two?

35mm Summicron-M v.4 arrived yesterday - took it to the gallery last night for curation session.

I haven't had one of these since I got the M10s in 2017, because they wouldn't read my old hand-inked 6-bit codes from the M9 era. And ready-coded ones were rare as hens' teeth.

Back in the saddle again - Yeeehaw!

One of my last shots with the 35 cron IV before trading it for a 35 lux FLE 2.  I was often dissatisfied with the older cron in strong light conditions and made the nicest photos in softer light. I find the results of my FLE-2 much more consistent.

The V3 and V5/V6 combo. A perfect match. Along with the two luxes, 35 Steel Rim and 35 FLE II Close Focus.

😉 I guess there are more people in here which requires at least 4 lenses of the same FL to become a proper «combo» 😉

I find myself being a 35 guy. However, I have now stayed happy for a longer time with my modest combo of only two: the cron v4 and the lux pre-fle.

The steel rim, however, could be next… now with the filter/hood thing seemingly fixed! Do you recommend considering my set… and why? Hope it is ok to ask also in this thread.

I fully agree and I don’t understand why this stands out so much compared to the other digital M’s I had: 8,9,10. I also liked it on the Monochrome1 but not that distinctive.
