Hi

Im a newbie to any kind of photography, i work in media and attend food and drink tastings a lot where i sometimes need to take quick shots to be uploaded to social media and very occasionally our print mag as small food news kind of snippets. I was eyeing up the C-Lux as wanted something thats easy to carry in a small bag but wondered if i would get much more from the camera than what i would taking snaps on my iphone 12 which i have been doing upto now. Comments and reviews from those who are using both the C-Lux and iphone are welcome. Many thanks

Even if I find the iPhones decidedly inferior to real cameras when it comes to rendering fine detail, my iPhone 11 Pro decidedly struggles when it has to render fur or feathers, smoothing them out to a digital mess - and will have similar problems with finely structured food, the C-lux will not be much of an improvement. In your case I would make the jump to the D-Lux which is a serious step-up in image quality.

I would ask first what is it about your iphone snaps that aren’t meeting your needs ?   This will tell you what the next steps are, if any at all.

e.g. are the images struggling for detail as far as your readers are concerned? (unlikely if this is mostly social media and newsletters)

Of course, if I followed my own advice I wouldn’t have half a dozen cameras! 😀

I am about to soon find out what the actual difference between an iPhone and the C Lux looks like, the camera will be delivered at my doorstep tomorrow. For me, the decision to buy one was easy because I'm quite interested in the possibilities of the C Lux' zoomlens with it’s very respectable range and in the camera's ergonomics.

Absolutely Jaap, but then of course there is also the factor that the D-Lux is quite a bit bigger than an iPhone.
