paul.bridges.3388 Posted January 25, 2021 Share #1 Posted January 25, 2021 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Puzzled by (absence of) lens profile for SL2-S in Lightroom. Why does C1 apply a profile but LR does not? Is C1 more current? Edited January 25, 2021 by paul.bridges.3388
Advertisement Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Hi paul.bridges.3388, Take a look here SL2-S LR v C1. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
bsmith Posted January 25, 2021 Share #2 Posted January 25, 2021 more current and VASTLY superior!

SrMi Posted January 25, 2021 Share #4 Posted January 25, 2021 Adobe supports SL2-S. https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html I assume you are talking about APO-Summicron-SL, not the M mount version. L-mount lenses store any necessary lens corrections in a built-in profile that is stored in the DNG file. Lightroom reads that data and applies it automatically. There is no need for an additional Adobe lens-profile. Note that the APO-Summicron-SL lenses are so good that they do not need any profiles (no built-in profile stored in DNGs). Do you see any difference with C1 when turning their lens profile on or off?
LocalHero1953 Posted January 25, 2021 Share #5 Posted January 25, 2021 Do you actually see faults in the image? After all, the SL makes in-body corrections for the lens itself.
paul.bridges.3388 Posted January 25, 2021 Author Share #6 Posted January 25, 2021 Yes: SL lens. Not faults, as such. But a difference in the image between LR and C1, for sure. Both lovely but I marginally preferred C1. Hence, my question.. I’d rather not switch, unless C1 is more current and thus. superior

I do not see any difference in C1 when turning the lens profile on and off. There is a reason why Adobe does not provide a lens profile (see #4). FWIW, Leica works much closer with Adobe than with C1.
