rossawilson1 Posted August 7, 2021 Share #81 Posted August 7, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Google 35mm film, you will see many types of film stock being manufactured and shot all over the world, people love shooting film, you'll see forums like this where people rant and rave about how beautiful film is and countless videos on YouTube about how great film is. You'll see entire business' based around the manufacture, sale and processing of film. If you can look at all that and wonder if film is dead then I really don't know what to say. Maybe, it would be an easier decision to make if film was dead. But it isn't, and likely never will be because people enjoy it and people will always pay money for what they enjoy. Digital doesn't replace film, digital is an option for creative people same way paint is, and the way paint is still alive even after cameras and iPads were invented. Maybe if photography was just about scientific documentation then sure, film might die, but it isn't. Even with things like wood burning stoves being replaced by central heating, people still want wood burning stoves. It's not about getting a job done. It's about an experience. For what it's worth, if you're not using the film cameras you don't need three you're not using, keep one for posterity and let the others go into the market where people can use and enjoy them.
