Rigid Summicron 50 LTM - any in black paint?

Recommended Posts

Never officially listed... and I don't remember to have seen any (no one at auctions recorded at collectblend) : but the rigid LTM (SOSTA) was produced around the same timeframe when the BM version was made orderable in black (1960 around)... maybe some "special" can exist...  anyway the few black LTM bodies ("swedish army") had not Summicron in their made-to-order set.

No, the rigid in screw mount has a different ring at the base , not 45° slanted, but vertical : moreover, they are all with single distance scale, afaik

No, this one is a genuine M version bayonet mount lens. The LTM version of the Summicron rigid did not have the outwardly slanted portion at the very end of the lens body, adjacent to the bayonet flange.

Everything was possible at the time, but I doubt there is any black SOSTA lens, as there was no LTM body officially available in black at that time. I do seem to remember though having seen a black paint collapsible Summicron lens (I don't recall whether it was LTM or M).

Cheers, Andy

P.S.: Luigi beat me with regard to the base of the SOSTA lens 🙂

I think I remember having seen a photograph of a black paint IIIg with a black paint 8-lens Summicron 35mm, a black Leicavit and a black SBLOO. The set was attributed to the kit of Cartier - Bresson. It would make sense for a M3 user, who probably liked to see the FOV of his beloved 50mm even when occasionally using a 35mm lens.

Needless to say that this thread sent me again to my archves. I had black paint Summicron 50,of first and second models, but they were BM. And the LTM were chrome. Here are two images of serial 1704833.

Never heard of black screw-mount.
