If you have not seen it have a look at e-bay item 284141644416 described as Leica M3C camera c1946-47 with Xenar lens body ser. no. 428400.

Anyone know what the 'bolt-on goodie' is over the shutter release button?

That's the shutter-release for the Novoflex mirror box and the Xenar-lens head, mirror box and either bellows or helicoid for focusing are missing

Accidently I have a complete set which came with both bellows and helicoid. The Leica in the mentioned auction has a non-Leitz flash synchronisation made in some repair shop and the lens doesn't look good either.
