Anyone lost a M10R?

Most people register their cameras immediately after opening the parcel. This registration will include the serial number. Most probably Leica has the data of the first buyer at least. And if the camera is NOT registered then the buyer did probably not bother. Sn alternative is the police. A stolen camera might open an insurance case as many cameras are insured.

If these 2 activities do not give you any result, then buy it. Legally its then yours as you are "gutgläubig". You did what you can do.

I have been offered a Leica M10R for a low price ... last 3 digits of serial number are xxxx206. It is a chrome body.

Does it walk like a duck? And quack like a duck?

Yes, but it could lead to all sorts of hassle and nastiness. Is it worth it?

Advertisement (gone after registration)

I wrote to inform police . . .

And if neither police are acting nor did the owner register, why should an "old" camera tha has successors as the M10-P and then the M10-R not cost 1/6th of its original price?

But you are right. A so called owner might show up.

Maybe somebody who'd rather have got an Xbox for Christmas than a Leica?

Sandokan,  I agree with Andy.   Personally, I wouldn't touch it.  Last summer riots in San Francisco and New York the Leica stores were looted and a number of cameras and lenses came up on eBay and Gumtree....cheap.  r/ Mark

I contacted my local dealer with details.

i contacted Ricardo and they raised it as a suspicious account.
i contacted seller and he is keen to go through asap  discrepancy between if camera is a R a P or an original M10

i asked seller if he wants to meet and take COD. No response.

sounds more like an empty box trick than a stolen camera

Invoice is for M10-P, not M10-R.

Seems like you saw this on the Swiss auction site Ricardo which you mention. Only last week there was an M6 TTL at a ludicrous low price... recognized the pictures of it ‘ borrowed’ from a legitimate current sensibly priced offer on EBay. I reported it and it was removed. I have reported quite a few items over the years.
With even more ‘buyer beware’,  however really like Ricardo, being CH based, and regularly buy and sell Leica through them😊

1/6th market price.

Email to seller bounced, will call him later.

@Sandokan - The evidence is piling up.  Something is not kosher about this "deal."

Way too many red flags.

First time for me that i see a Ricardo rip off, after 18 years

the actual account owner says he left that address 10 years ago (still has the mobile number) so i advised him to shut down his account.

no response from “seller”

mind you, my first concern at this price was seller had mistyped the “buy now” price so i gave him the option to cancel. If it was priced at 5000, i would have thought a good deal and paid.
