LocalHero1953 Posted January 8, 2021 Share #4 Posted January 8, 2021 Contact Leica - they will have been told of many stolen Leicas.
M11 for me Posted January 8, 2021 Share #5 Posted January 8, 2021 Most people register their cameras immediately after opening the parcel. This registration will include the serial number. Most probably Leica has the data of the first buyer at least. And if the camera is NOT registered then the buyer did probably not bother. Sn alternative is the police. A stolen camera might open an insurance case as many cameras are insured. If these 2 activities do not give you any result, then buy it. Legally its then yours as you are "gutgläubig". You did what you can do.

M11 for me Posted January 8, 2021 Share #7 Posted January 8, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) I wrote to inform police . . . And if neither police are acting nor did the owner register, why should an "old" camera tha has successors as the M10-P and then the M10-R not cost 1/6th of its original price? But you are right. A so called owner might show up.

LeicaR10 Posted January 8, 2021 Share #9 Posted January 8, 2021 Sandokan, I agree with Andy. Personally, I wouldn't touch it. Last summer riots in San Francisco and New York the Leica stores were looted and a number of cameras and lenses came up on eBay and Gumtree....cheap. r/ Mark
M11 for me Posted January 8, 2021 Share #10 Posted January 8, 2021 (edited) plus if it were an insurance case latest the insurance would have contacted Leica . . . As a consequence it is the first zhing to do is to contact Leica. Edited January 8, 2021 by M10 for me
Sandokan Posted January 8, 2021 Author Share #11 Posted January 8, 2021 I contacted my local dealer with details. i contacted Ricardo and they raised it as a suspicious account. i contacted seller and he is keen to go through asap discrepancy between if camera is a R a P or an original M10 i asked seller if he wants to meet and take COD. No response. sounds more like an empty box trick than a stolen camera Welcome, dear visitor! M11 for me Posted January 8, 2021 Share #13 Posted January 8, 2021 I was not aware that you did not have that camera in your hands. With the new information it is more a question about the dealer. And if you do not know him . . . .

Phil_P Posted January 8, 2021 Share #16 Posted January 8, 2021 Seems like you saw this on the Swiss auction site Ricardo which you mention. Only last week there was an M6 TTL at a ludicrous low price... recognized the pictures of it ‘ borrowed’ from a legitimate current sensibly priced offer on EBay. I reported it and it was removed. I have reported quite a few items over the years. With even more ‘buyer beware’, however really like Ricardo, being CH based, and regularly buy and sell Leica through them😊

Something is not kosher about this "deal." Way too many red flags.
Sandokan Posted January 8, 2021 Author Share #18 Posted January 8, 2021 First time for me that i see a Ricardo rip off, after 18 years the actual account owner says he left that address 10 years ago (still has the mobile number) so i advised him to shut down his account. no response from “seller” mind you, my first concern at this price was seller had mistyped the “buy now” price so i gave him the option to cancel. If it was priced at 5000, i would have thought a good deal and paid.
