darylgo Posted January 6, 2021 Share #21 Posted January 6, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) My 120 and 180mm haven't needed the repair, three others did. From Los Angeles the turn around time was two months sent in 2019. I seldom use the 120mm the past few years and this can account for it's working af. The failure of my three lenses hasn't occurred while using the lenses rather when I put them on the body (S006) and mount them after sitting in a camera bag they fail with no warning as they worked when last used.
Advertisement Posted January 6, 2021 Posted January 6, 2021 Hi darylgo, Take a look here Is it mandatory to replace AF motor in S lenses that are working fine?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Stuart Richardson Posted January 11, 2021 Share #22 Posted January 11, 2021 I think it is common that it happens that way, as the S does a rapid racking of focus every time it turns on or wakes up from sleep. Not sure why it does so, but it always does. I did have a lens fail while I was actually using it, however, so I think it is really just down to the conditions and how much stress the gear has been over. Most of mine failed at room temperature, but I imagine the cold is not your friend for this kind of thing....
