Your favorite lens for 2021? :)

To kick start 2021 I thought of asking everyone here what will you be using this year as your main gear. What are your top 1~3 lenses that you’ll be sticking with?

I finally came to the conclusion I am a 50mm guy, so I will be mostly using:

1) Summicron Rigid 50mm (my favorite Leica lens) attached to my M3

2) Elmar 50mm f3.5 attached to my M9M 

3) Summaron 35mm f2.8 Goggled version for when I wanna shoot street / do zone focusing / do close(r) focusing

And here’s a shot of my M9M and Elmar (my number 1 spot is now being CLA’d so can’t share). I am using the Flashback Camera hood that allows to change the aperture easily with the hood / filter, making this lens much easier to use.

I'm coming to a similar conclusion about the 50mm focal length, although I shot almost exclusively with a 35mm for the last three years. 

In 2021 I expect to primarily use my Summicron 50/2 v5 (got my eye out for a nice Rigid as well) and the 28mm Elmarit ASPH, when I can get back to some street shooting.

I predict my top 3 lenses for 2021 will be:

1. Summicron Rigid 50mm

2. Elmarit v1 (Wetzlar) 28mm

3. Summilux ASPH 35mm 

and possibly Summaron 35mm f/2.8 goggled on the M3

i see we have similar taste hehe! i've been looking for a lux 35mm w/ focus tab lock but haven't had any luck!

I have number 2 and 3, and could have lived happily with just them!

I also have their modern counterparts, but they are just complementary additions.

😇 Happy (or sad) to say that as every other years, I don't have favorite lens (es).

To say it better, I use my lenses and bodies for what I've learned to use them, depending on subjects and situations.

 

So favorite(s) of the year mean nothing for me.

As usual I suspect the Voigtlander Nokton 40mm f1.4 will do the most work. If not that then it will be the 50mm Summicron. Third will be the 28mm asph Elmarit

Here's hoping that everyone has far more opportunities to use our kit this year than last!

APO Summicron 50 ASPH (current version)

Over the years I have had many lenses that could be considered favs of the time.

M9 c/w 21SEM, 35/1.4 and 90/2.8 - as ever - great combination which will cover a LOT!

Same combo as previous: MP and Delta 100, Silvermax 100 or Portra 400 with 28mm summaron-M, 50mm elmar-m & 90mm elmarit-m.

I've no need to change anything there.
