Sun stars

Could anyone please tell me which M Mount lenses give great sun stars?

Ideally at 35mm for beach landscapes, but interested in all focal lengths.

Using Leica, Zeiss & Voigtlander lenses (have various focal lengths).

My camera’s: M240 & SL2.

Today shot pictures on Rhossili Beach Swansea UK using M240 & Zeiss 35mm f1.4.  Some slight internal reflection at f16 & fair (at best) sun stars.  Amazing beach.

Yes it’s true what is said in that article but I think that was in relation to lenses in a general sense, finding one specifically for the M system is a little bit harder.

Hm, I'm not sure what you mean here. It's a site and not an article, and they have reviewed dozens of M lenses with specific coverage of sunstars.

Thanks for posting, whilst most lenses will have some sort of sunstar ability, they will be different in how they render them.  So far in this thread we've had the Biogon and the APO Summicron 50 as examples, it would be nice for others to post.  I suspect this is where practical examples instead of a written thesis would be more useful.

  • 1 year later...

I realised down the years that sunstars don't really seem to be a priority for rangefinder users (and understand that) but for those of you that are attracted to them, the Skopar 28mm definitely does 'em.
