The solution to your close up limitation is SL2 camera with adapter that has a little macro option..

this are images that where commotion this summer. They wanted the Noctilux look.

The beauty of the 0.95 and SL2  combination is that you can see all details in the EVF.

In zone scenes you want the 0.95 glow look. In others you see to much CA and close one click the fstop to improve the image. For some you want more DoF.

If you are closer the look is totally different. For people shots I like when eyes and lips are in focus. But these choices can be done on the fly.  You can shoot at any fstop.

I find that even at f2 the rendering is different from summilux lens.

One other special quality is that at 0.95 you get blur separation of a person in front and back when you are far away  from the person even if the person is only 1/2 frame in size

The last one is the perfect example of what Noctilux is capable at. On the one hand you can count the hairs of his beart and on the other hand you see this beautiful Bokeh.

The clinically sharp portrait does not benefit from what I call  ugly bokeh.

My taste leans toward recognizable ( or barely so) backgrounds.  Out of focus circles do nothing for me.

All of the other photos in that group show restraint in aperture use.

If you use a Noctilux on the M10M, M10R or SL2 cropping really is a non-issue - and being a little further back from the subject means that in a portrait you can have slightly more depth of focus while keeping the dreamy look. This was cropped by about 30%.
