It seems to have interesting engravings and also has a iiif flash socket. Any thoughts on the engravings? Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 Hi Connie7, Take a look here iiia 1936 with interesting engravings. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
romanus53 Posted December 24, 2020 Share #2 Posted December 24, 2020 If it reads DBP the top was changed when the camera was flash-synchronized after the war, otherwise the numbers for flashbulb-settings wäre engraved in a separate plante. I agree with romanus53 that this a post war modification to a IIIf Black Dial. If the top was changed it would have maintained the same size as the IIIa and it also seems to have kept the separate rangefinder and viewfinder windows. Connie7 Posted December 24, 2020 Author Share #4 Posted December 24, 2020 Thank you both. Why would it have Nr instead of No at the serial number?
UliWer Posted December 24, 2020 Share #5 Posted December 24, 2020 Leitz changed the abbreviation in post-war times. „No“ seems to be more international, but it stood also for „Numero“ which was an outfashioned usage in German. „Nr.“ was and still is the „official“ abbreviation for „Nummer“ (number). When they changed the whole top plate for the camera they also used their new engraving with „Nr.“
