How to upload images: Prepare the image as follows: 1.   The image should be sRGB and 8-bits 2.   Reduce the size to 2048 pixels on the longest side. (smaller sizes can be set, but are not recommended) 3.   Sharpen properly for screen. 4.   Save as JPG to your desktop, reducing JPG quality to produce 2000 kB (5000 kB for sponsoring members). 5.   In Lightroom these parameters should be set in the Export dialog. 6.   In the Forum posting or editing box, click “choose Files” and s

Until you actually use the camera and work on the files, it's difficult to understand how much of a step forward in colour management the SL2-S appears to be over the SL and even the SL2.

This is a type of shot I have often taken in the past - typical of a British winter: bright sky, low sun into the camera, and a lot of foreground shade. In my distant ignorant past I would have exposed for the buildings and blown the sky entirely. In my educated recent past I would have exposed for the sky and lifted the foreground in post, getting an acceptable exposure, but quite possibly losing some colour and contrast which could not be retrieved without a lot of work. Here it was: increase Exposure and Shadows, decrease Highlights to bring back the sky, and set White & Black points (little change needed), and I have achieved the scene and look as I saw it, with natural colours. I can do more with sharpening and contrast, but those will be just tweaks.

Another example to go with the one I posted above. 
First the image with OOC exposure, but cropped/straightened a bit.
Second the image with the same basic adjustments to exposure settings. I could have achieved this with previous cameras but only with extra local adjustments for contrast and colour..

Agree, with the SL2-S, I'm always in manual mode adjusting exposure based on the histogram for the slightest hint of highlight clipping.

Similarly, I luminance mask the shadow area, drop local contrast and bringing up the exposure without worrying about the colour shifting.

I set the exposure with the histogram and highlight clipping.
Yes, I may have made it a little light; I'm trying different 'looks' that I want to be consistent across all the images in this series. The slightly bleached look is not quite natural (except when sunlight bounces off all these light walls), but I'm taken with it at the moment! It's good to know it can be done, even if the final images end up differently.
