♀ Leopard  -Ngala Game Reserve S. Africa

SL2-S & VE90-280mm L @ ISO12,500 (w/ in-camera Noise Reduction off).  I've previously posted a different frame from this set.

Shot in RAW & Jpeg. This image is the Jpeg vers. converted to B&W, slightly sharpened & no noise reduction in PP.  Surprisingly there's hardly any noise in this image. She was illuminated by a spotlight with a red filter, I wonder if that has something to do with the low noise level?  The RAW image does show more noise, which is easily dealt with in PP.

Silicon is daylight sensitive in terms of sensitivity/ISO. That's the reason why the R channel tends to be starving under tungsten light. I'd think that red illuminated subjects will be more noise-prone than green-lit subjects (that's also got to do with the light levels as such. Green is a much brighter colour than red). That all being said, I assume that Leica's JPEG engine uses a de-noise technology as we see it with many other camera brands.
