After all what we heard the Apo35SL is a great lens. I had the privilege to play with the time of a weekend. Autofocus for wide angle is not a criteria for me. As a result, I will wait for the delivery of the Apo35M. I guess this will be a good compromise between size and image quality

Yeah it should be.

I wanted a native SL lens and decided to go for the APO35SL as I already have the APO50M. Seemed like a good choice. It’s big and heavy compared to an M lens but worth it for the image quality. No regrets.

When I see these, I dont want anyone to tell me that gear doesnt matter. You cant get this IQ with any Sony. I just received the 35 GM and mounted it on the A1. Sure it can take nice photos. But not in this league.

Thanks for posting this photo, Photoworks.  I'm also interested in the SL 35mm, but I want to get a better feel of how the lens can handle portraits without too much distortion. This "environmental portrait" looks very nice.

I’ve shot Leica for years. Both film and digital, but this lens on the SL2 has left me speechless.

It seams that zero lens correction is applied to this lens.

Not surprising as I think shooting portraits at 35 mm is a matter of technique: In your photo, you are at a sufficient distance to avoid facial (especially nose) distortion. And by putting  the camera at torso level, you avoid making the head too big (as it likely would if you were shooting at a higher angle). Your photo is a great example of why one would choose 35mm for an environmental portrait. (I really don't think 35mm is a good choice for most head-and-shoulder shots - but I would enjoy postings by others to prove me wrong!)
