This month marks 10 years since I started running the Barnack's Monthly thread so I'd like to give a special note of thanks to everyone who has contributed to the series of threads and helped to keep it going and growing since December 2010.  Thank you so much, everyone!!!

During my ten year tenure, we have posted 74,336 pictures and the Barnack's Monthly threads have been viewed 1,641,542 times, which is a wonderful achievement and long may it/you continue.

Finally, thank you to Andreas @LUF Admin for providing the platform where we can all spend our time, contribute, and continue to enjoy the pictures in the Barnack's Monthly threads!

Thank you to everyone who took part in last month's 146th Barnack's Monthly theme, which was filled with more than 1,600 pictures, excellent ideas and interpretations of the theme.   Also, thank you to everyone who helped to make it another successful month by generously posting their pictures and in particular to those people who posted for the first time - I hope you found it an interesting and rewarding experience and I hope it encourages you to share more of your pictures with us!

The 147th Barnack's Monthly theme for December 2020 is:

 Something shiny.

This month's theme is any picture that includes something with a shiny surface that reflects light.  For example, it could be shiny shoes, a silver salver, a polished mahogany table, a sports car, a lorry, the still surface of a lake, a wedding ring, a piercing, Pete's shiny bald pate, a suit of armour, a laminated certificate, bannisters on a sweeping staircase, hubcaps, a polished floor, shiny eyes, a ceremonial sword, a ceremonial canon, a battle helmet, the bonnet of a Cadillac a polished monument, a motorcycle tank, a silver fruit bowl, chromed spokes, silver goblets, a silver table service, a shiny gilt mirror, shiny marks where a brass statue has been repeatedly fondled, a chromed coal-scuttle, an aluminium airstream caravan, silver Helium balloons, The Spirit of Ecstasy ornament on a Rolls Royce bonnet, chromed chess pieces, steel boules balls, a polished brass plaque on a building, a car's headlamp cowling, shiny stiletto heels, a shiny belt buckle, a brooch, a hairpin, a hairpin bend marker, Kylie's tiny disco pants, a rosewood sideboard, steel spectacle frames, a freshly-caught fish - it's entirely your choice so let your imagination run free!

It would be a big help if you give your picture a title so to help us understand your point of view. Members have asked if we'd very kindly name the camera and lens used - if you can remember - because it's interesting to know but, again, it's just helpful.

The rules are deliberately loose so go out and shoot with this month's theme in mind or start searching back through those pictures you took oh-so long ago that you'd forgotten about and start posting! It doesn't have to be your best ever shot and it's not a competition so you might surprise the rest of us and yourself - it's just about sharing some pictures, seeing others' take on the topic, and enjoying it!

Everybody's welcome to contribute, any interpretation, any number of posts, pictures that have been posted on the forum before, any equipment as long as it and the photo complies with the forum's rules of either camera or lens or both made by Leica. Please post freely - especially newcomers and please remember there's no judging or criticism (good or bad) in this threadSo, if you'd like to show your acknowledgement or appreciation that someone has posted their picture then instead of posting a comment please use the "Thanks" button that you can find at the bottom right of every post.

Please post away and I look forward to seeing your interesting interpretations of this month's theme.

Note: Moderator Pop has very kindly assembled links to all of the past Barnack's Monthly threads as a single archive that can be found here: Barnack's Monthly Index.  Thank you, Pop!

Pete.
