Frog Spawn? If not, what? My daughter's boyfriend showed me this wobbly ball on a pebble finding by a river. I asked him to carefully replace it after the photo.

Resolution doesn't show whether the dots are internal to the mass or reflections from the pebble's surface texture. The wobbly ball is too big and singular for frog spawn. Toad spawn looks like a necklace string. Newt spawn is tiny. Fish spawn? If that pebble came from an odd patch of 'cleaned of algae' pebbles it could be trout but doesn't seem to have the yellowy yolk present. In fact it doesn't seem to be showing any singular fertilised innards so it may just be unfertilised material from a nearby spawning. Good not to move its location (disease and unnatural habitat issues).

My granddaughter stopped by to visit today. The puppy was so excited - he obviously misses her.

Harsh early afternoon sun despite all the clouds (real - no filters).
Exploratory trip out...Our beautiful Cornwall is a bit on the crowded
side, even more so than is 'usual' in August. Roads *SO* busy😕

Strange sickly pale white, coloured (almost albino) compared with the other
purple blue and dusky pink mopheads scattered around - other than the Q2M
not capturing the green of the leaves, this was really how it looked in reality.
