Sunspots with Q2M attached to a Swarovski ATS 80 spotting scope with a 18-stop solar filter in front of the scope. 1/1000, f/4, ISO 100, on tripod of course, 20X scope eyepiece magnification, manual focus in macro mode on the Q2 set to the far end of the focus range. I used a Leica Q spotting scope adapter which clamps around the spotting scope eyepiece and allows the Q2M lens to screw into the other side. Unfortunately the adapter is no longer available from Leica. Focusing was a real challenge between the Q2M and the spotting scope. I used the 12 sec. timer to allow the scope to settle before the exposure. Selecting PASM exposure preview was a huge help with seeing the image and pursuing a sharp focus. This is a challenging photo to take, but a fun one. I'm practicing for the annular eclipse which will track across the western part of the US on Oct. 14.
