I've been reading about the networking capability of the M10.  I have a question of whether something wold/could work.

I have a home network - it was recently modified when I signed up for internet access from AT&T, so I have a "box" with several Ethernet connectors, and Wi-Fi.

My printer has been set up so any of my devices can connect to it using Ethernet or WiFi; what's needed is set the printer up with my own SSID and password, to connect it to my network.  This allows any of my computers to connect to this printer, once they can "see" the printer.

Can I do something similar with the M10, so that when I turn on WiFi, any of my computers, and even my iPhone, can connect to my M10 using the SSID and password for the M10, once I activate WiFi on the M10?  If I have lots of images, I would use the memory card, but what concerns me is when/if I buy my next Apple device, it likely won't have an SD memory card slot.

(I usually stumble my way through networking issues - I'm far from an expert, but eventually I get my "stuff" to do what I need.)

You can buy a card reader and attach through a USB port. Good luck with the rest!

True; I do have card readers, but it seems like Apple is trying to eliminate ports eventually. Thanks - I've got other things to work on before then, but later this week I will see what I can do.

Leica FOTOS:     What I have done so far, is to download "Leica FOTOS" to my iPhone 11 Pro from the App Store.  I then added  "Leica FOTOS" to the "Favorites" menu on my M10.  By default it is set to OFF, but if I turn it ON on the M10, and run the Leica FOTOS app on my iPhone, I eventually open up a folder showing photos I've taken on the M10.  I can then choose to download a small "Preview" of the photo, or to download the full size (in this case 27.5 meg) DNG file.  Just tried it - it took 13 seconds for the DNG.   At this point I can use the iPhone SHARE function to send this file to my computer, or anyplace I want to send it, assuming my phone is connected.

(I see that I can also select REMOTE on the phone, which allows me to take control of the phone, change some of the settings, and capture an image.  That's something else I can play around with, as my iPhone turns into a pretty awesome "cable release".)

Leica Sync:     I've been working with another program developed by a user here on the forum to do some of what I want - will get back to that software later today or tomorrow.  The app name is "Leica Sync.app".  More info here:  https://transienteye.com/software/    ......The author helped explain to me how to get it running, and it might be the complete answer to what I want to do.  It's a brilliant solution to what I'm after, only limited by the wireless speed of the camera.

It would really be nice if I could find a version of Leica FOTOS that ran on my iMac computer, but in the meantime, Leica Sync may be all I really need.

Looking forward to finding out what you are able to set up with Transient Eye software. I will probably investigate this app too.

In the meantime, I can use the Fotos App to transfer full DNG files from M10 to iPhone then AirDrop full DNG image(s) from iPhone to mac laptop/desktop or both. I found this to be a handy approach when the M10 is mounted to a Tripod so I don't have to unmount the camera, unscrew the bottom plate and then take the SD cart out to transfer images to desktop. But there are a couple of different workflows for the same use of AirDrop and the M10.

Something else I hope to accomplish.

For years now, I "ingest" images onto my computer using the software Photo Mechanic.  The biggest advantage for me is it allows me to very quickly select the better DNG images, and get rid of poor images.  When this is done, I can either export the good images into Lightroom, or I can copy them to where I want to store them on my computer. Photo Mechanic does many other functions - it has been around for years, and is constantly being improved.  It has a very good system for renaming folders, files, etc., in any way you find useful.  So, ideally I would find a way to get from the memory card in the camera, to Leica Sync, and from there to Photo Mechanic.

(All this is secondary - the main thing is to become part of the camera, or vice versa.)

(....and at the same time, avoid making errors in processing the DNG files.  In Lightroom I usually got excellent results by allowing Lightroom to do an initial process automatically.  Thanks to Jaapv I'm realizing how my "improvements" are quite the opposite!!!)
