Triumph Posted November 6, 2020 Share #1 Posted November 6, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I adore my Leica M10 and appreciate my collection of M lenses that I have accumulated over 40 years. Leica glass is fantastic..even the older lenses . I like photographing the family, and landscapes, places I visit on holiday . I am not into street photograph and actually I would be scared to do that as photographing street scenes upsets some people, and could even get you arrested if the place is a potential terrorist target, and kids is a no no as parents rightly do not appreciate. The thing I wish to do next is photograph food on a dinner plate for a cookbook I am doing. The problem is that I cannot use the flash show if I am using the viso at the same time. Also Leica have not fitted an external flash contact, nor have they done anything as far as I can tell to remotely trigger the shutter and the flash. So how can Leica call the M10 a system camera in my view they need to build a wireless something or do whatever it takes ....My view
Advertisement Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 Hi Triumph, Take a look here M10 Flash photography with Viso fitted. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted November 6, 2020 Share #2 Posted November 6, 2020 Nothing new there - a complaint since the M240... But then, it is a rangefinder camera with the EVF as a limited accessory. Why not just use the RF/VF for focusing as designed?

sarkleshark Posted November 6, 2020 Share #4 Posted November 6, 2020 Have you tried using lamps or led panels that are constantly on to light the food plate. Led panels are not that expensive and do not require flash firing since they are always on. They do not have to be mounted or connected to the camera.
david strachan Posted November 7, 2020 Share #5 Posted November 7, 2020 (edited) Leica have never done flash very well with their digital cameras...somehow it became ingrained that..." Leica users don't use flash". Which is really crummy. So there is a workaround.. Multifunctional Handgrip M, which will only cost you about US$1,143. david strachan Posted November 7, 2020 Share #7 Posted November 7, 2020 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Yes https://au.leica-camera.com/Photography/Leica-M/Technical-Equipment/Ergonomics/Multifunctional-handgrip-M Err...No, not for M10..Sorry my mistake. It seems just for M and M-P typ240 cameras. So M10 users will have to glue a candle onto the side of their camera... Triumph Posted November 7, 2020 Author Share #11 Posted November 7, 2020 I have come to the same conclusion as the comments here so M10 cannot use the viso and flash at the same time. Sounds like this is something for the M11 and is a big miss for M10. I am surprised that Leica do not do something with the WiFi capability that is in the camera to solve using the flash...maybe a small accessory that gives a little flash that can trigger studio lights. farnz Posted November 7, 2020 Share #12 Posted November 7, 2020 (edited) The pop-up flash on my M10 seems to work fairly well. The autofocus doesn't always work well with it though. Must be a synch thing. Pete. Edited November 7, 2020 by farnz 1
