How to upload images: Prepare the image as follows: 1.   The image should be sRGB and 8-bits 2.   Reduce the size to 2048 pixels on the longest side. (smaller sizes can be set, but are not recommended) 3.   Sharpen properly for screen. 4.   Save as JPG to your desktop, reducing JPG quality to produce 2000 kB (5000 kB for sponsoring members). 5.   In Lightroom these parameters should be set in the Export dialog. 6.   In the Forum posting or editing box, click “choose Files” and s

I have been experimenting with various 'photo-paint' programs for a while.  Here are a few samples.  Taken with  TL2 with18-56 - developed in Lightroom, then Topaz Studio to get the brush effects.  I am aware that this may upset some 'photo purists', sorry.  BTW .. all our photographs on this site are Digital.. this is just a bit more.

I think they're great too.  

Just curious: how nice do they look printed? (Might be interesting if you could find an artist to add real paint on a final copy over some of the sections. For texture and dimension).

Rick--those are terrific interpretations: thanks! They remind me of some of the street artist works I used to see on the Left Bank just across from the Cathedrale Notre-Dame.

I have to confess to some mixed feelings, though I'm not sure if it's for the processing to photographs.  On the one hand I like the effect - in this image for instance.  I think the image works quite well.  I think my reservation might be - what about the actual paint-and-canvas artists.  If one can take a picture and process it into quite an attractive painting, where does that leave many painters?  I guess the exceptional painters will shine regardless and fine new ways of expression, but many may not.  Still, it's just another of the new technology created conundrums...
