My first reaction, looking at these three, was the Helios won. But that is because the flower is taking up more of the image, I.e. is closer shot. So all three are quite good.

Many of friends have said also agreed with you.  Surprisingly, my Helios 44M-6 58mm f/2 performs much better on my T than on my Canon and Fuji bodies.

Thank you for commenting on my battle of 50s :-)!

Robert, these flower shots are amazingly sharp with really beautiful colors!

I am surprised that Ulrich who has some association with Leica research, said in the other site that this lens is less sharp than a few others that he compared with!... I don't know about the others since I do not have any of them; but I really like what I see here!

Merci bien, Louis!

I’m sure the good doctor knows what he’s talking about but all I can say is that this lens is sharp enough for me. Those two photos were taken with the lens stopped down a little. The first to f/2.8, the second to f/4. I used to think that the lens was a lot less sharp wide open but I now reckon that had more to do with my getting used to using it than any softness in the lens. Here’s a snap I’ve just taken (in wet and windy conditions) with the lens fully open at f/1.4.

Robert, thanks very much for giving us your views about this lens. In your previous post, I actually found the first shot sharper than the second one. For 2.8, it's really very good! :)

My Nikkor 50 mm, f/1.4, has always been one of my favorite lenses. I like the sharpness and the oldish color rendering. Most of the time, I am using it wide open (f/1.4, f/2) and the results are always good. Recently, I posted some shots in DPR, and someone found the bokeh too busy. Nervous, as he said! But as I am very used to it, I never really noticed that, and it never bothered me. But now,  I am very conscious of it!...  Maybe I shouldn't!

Rick, beautiful shots of flowers, like yours and Robert's, are always the theme; and very enjoyable. :)

But let us have some music now.... Maybe not the right type of music for everyone; but they can always use ear plugs! ;)

This is a sample of the kind of files this site, with its limits, can not handle well at all. There is too much data in this photo; and when the resolution is lowered so much to post in LUF, the shot loses all its details and even color nuances!

On my monitor, it is sharp like a razor with really nice colors (so many different  shades of green!); but here, not at all so!
