Just picked up my M10-R yesterday having traded in my beloved M10. Anyone else notice the increased noise, even with the luminance noise reduction applied in LR as a function of ISO when importing? I was rather shocked after having read all the reviews claiming similar noise performance. ISO 5000 is almost unusable at the level of sharpening required for printing.

What are your sharpening settings and print size? I am finding for my taste that minimal sharpening is needed for prints up to 22 X 17 for the M10R or M10M.

I usually do minimal sharpening in LR (40/0.8/25), preferring to sharpen just the luminosity channel in Lab space after a- and b- curve modifications to adjust color and contrast. Smart sharpen in L* at 200 -300% at a radius of 0.8; noise reduction is set to 10-20% and fade amount also 10-20%. I print at an image resolution of 360 ppi onto 17x22 Epson Exhibiton Fiber paper using a custom made profile.

We have very similar workflows for sharpening and use the same paper and printer manufacturer. I think the difference is that you are zooming in to 200-300% which I think may be why you are seeing noise. I don’t notice any significant noise or artifacts up to 6400 at regular viewing so maybe someone that prints larger will have more input on this but the files seem very clean to me.
