Beautiful photograph.  This reminds me of Summer Hill station on the narrow gauge line to Simla (now Shiela).  An aunt had a home there near the station and from my bedroom window I could see an approaching train nearly 20 minutes on the far hell before it got to the station.  In the 60s and 70s it felt like this -  a small remote location but with taller mountains and fir trees in the background.  Probably a lot of change by now,

Anthony Bourdain took that train ride and that put Simla on my bucket list.

Better make it soon.  India is changing quite fast.  Looking through my photos, I realize I went there last in 1981.  Some pictures, not taken with a Leica but that Leica clone (XE-7 ?).

Very sorry about the appalling quality.  Transparencies rescued after decades of neglect in hot and humid Singapore!

This is my wife (married just over a year) asleep in the train.

Yanaka?

Very nice colors indeed. I don’t fully know yet, but somehow the 35cron iv suits me the best on the M10R , colorwise

This a street fairly local to me, which I like to go to when the sunset seems to want to do its thing. It was nice the other night. Not stunning, but nice.

just want to say I really enjoy when you post your images, this is a fantastic example of how you turn a (in your words 'not stunning') view into art.

Not Yanaka, but Katsushika, Near Ohanajaya.

I agree that the 35 'cron IV has a great look with the M10R, as it did with all the digital Ms. It's a wonderful lens, however, I tend to use the 28 Elmarit, or Voigtlander 40 Nokton Classic more often these days. I should use it more often.

THE BAKER AND THE SHAPER

Here in Java where rice is king

I had to learn how to make bread

The process is very close to developing film

Temperature and quantities must be controlled

I have developed (!) the ability to mix flour, water, and leaven

But for the final stage of shaping the dough,

I leave that to my wife who has magical hands.

I wasn’t there at that time and place, but can someone imagine better colors than this? Apart from sublime photogenic light which would have led to a nice photo from any camera
