G0KOK Posted October 22, 2020 Share #1 Posted October 22, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Today I went into my workshop and made a film leader cutter, be damned if I was going to pay the outrageous prices I have seen on eBay, total cost of materials was less than £20.00. 250swb Posted October 22, 2020 Share #2 Posted October 22, 2020 (edited) Truthfully, you only need to guess. But fine work! Edited October 22, 2020 by 250swb
Susie Posted November 14, 2020 Share #3 Posted November 14, 2020 Nice work Peter. I made one about 35 years ago, but did not go the whole hog with a hinge, just relying on the pins to hold it together. If I know I'll be using several rolls of film I'll do all the trimming in one hit before I set out. I know one only needs to guess, but using a template does add some satisfaction! Pyrogallol Posted November 14, 2020 Share #4 Posted November 14, 2020 I made a similar one in the 1970’s. It must have cut hundreds of films. Welcome, dear visitor! 250swb Posted November 14, 2020 Share #5 Posted November 14, 2020 Unfortunately the habit of carrying a penknife to cut the film has in many countries been superseded by a clampdown on knives generally. The days are long gone where people had an everyday penknife in their pocket to remove Boy Scouts from horses hooves and such like. Even the Duke of Edinburgh Award Victorinox penknife for the outward bound course only has a blunted blade nowadays, so fat chance if you meet a polar bear.
