During a discussion on the Leica M forum on the MP in black paint, mole73 expressed a wish to see a grey paint Leica. Here are a couple of pictures of my, well worn. IIIc. In spite of the brassing it is still a very attractice finish.

My two grey cameras, a IIIcK and a IIIc, the latter on a flash sync platform which does not work . The Leica Archives told me that the IIIc was Luftwaffe, but I don't believe that it is as it is not on any of the usual lists and it has no military markings.

Illustrated a Leica IIIc K  grey painted, due to the shortage of chromium in 1941/42, with a Summitar 2/ 50 lens and some contemporary lens leaflets.
K is for Kugellager, kältfest, this means that the shutter is equipped with ball bearing, allowing the axes to turn without grease, eliminating the risk of jam in winter time.
The curtain is stamped with a white K.
