dkCambridgeshire Posted October 12, 2020 Share #1 Posted October 12, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I recently discovered a colony of Ivy Mining Bees at Langdyke Countryside Trust's 'Swaddywell Nature Reserve' (between Peterborpugh and Stamford UK) . This a fairly new species to the UK ... first discovered in Dorset in 2001. The Ivy Mining Bee has spread relatively quickly to the midland and eastern counties ... fast population growth likely attributable to each female solitary bee's ability to produce up to 18 brood cells in a single nest hole.
