gwater Posted October 3, 2020 Share #1 Posted October 3, 2020 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I read that the SL2 outputs HDMI, but only 4K DCI is listed for external recording. Am I missing something, or is the SL2 unable to output any other resolution than 4096 x 2160 via HDMI? I would like to stream in Full HD using an encoder such as the LiveU Solo. Would that be possible? SL2 specs I read online: Recording Modes MOV/H.264 10-Bit 5K (4992 x 3744) at 23.976p/25p/29.97p DCI 4K (4096 x 2160) at 24.00p/25p/29.97p/50p/59.94p UHD 4K (3840 x 2160) at 23.976p/25p/29.97p/50p/59.94p Full HD (1920 x 1080) at 23.976p/25p/29.97p/50p/59.94p/100p/119.88p/180pMP4/H.264 10-Bit UHD 4K (3840 x 2160)23.976p/25p/29.97p/50p/59.94p Full HD (1920 x 1080)23.976p/25p/29.97p/50p/59.94p/100p/119.88p/180p External Recording Modes 10-Bit DCI 4K (4096 x 2160) up to 59.94p Edited October 3, 2020 by gwater
Advertisement Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Hi gwater, Take a look here SL2 HDMI Output to Stream in Full HD. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
LocalHero1953 Posted October 3, 2020 Share #2 Posted October 3, 2020 I'm pretty certain it does output FHD to HDMI; I have tried the HDMI-out, and I don't use UHD, just FHD - but I can't absolutely confirm I didn't have a higher res set. gwater Posted October 4, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted October 4, 2020 Thanks, I hope somebody can confirm if it outputs FHD to HDMI
Melampus Posted October 4, 2020 Share #4 Posted October 4, 2020 Yes - you can stream FHD (1920x1080) from the SL2. I've used this $20 HDMI-USB converter (link below), works like a charm providing FHD@30fps, even though it's only USB 2.0. It converts the UHD HDMI signal from the SL2 and you can use it to stream from your Mac (or PC I'm sure - not tested). Here Cheers, -Peter

Melampus Posted January 18, 2021 Share #6 Posted January 18, 2021 That particular vendor appears to no longer be on Amazon. Here is another which looks identical to the one I bought. Hope this helps: Here Cheers, -Peter

matted Posted December 17, 2022 Share #8 Posted December 17, 2022 I’m having trouble getting anything other than 1080 FHD out of my SL2-s, despite recording C4K internally. This is using my Odyssey 7Q+ recorder. Are there any settings in the SL2s that would dictate the HDMI output format? All I can find is the control to output RAW. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks! Never mind… I tried a different display device and am getting C4K output over HDMI. Must be either the cable or the Odyssey itself not allowing or not configured for 4K properly. Will see if I can dig up another cable (silly mini HDMI port on the Odyssey!) and tinker with the settings.
