Advertisement Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 Hi pedaes, Take a look here Buckfast Abbey. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Charles Morgan Posted September 22, 2020 Share #2 Posted September 22, 2020 Very local to me - they installed a spectacular Italian built organ recently (all that money from the sales of Buckie) and having moved down in November I was looking forward to hearing numerous recitals this year. Oh well... Leicaflex SL2, Summilux 80mm f1.4, Fuji Pro400h Welcome, dear visitor! Graham (G4FUJ) Posted September 23, 2020 Share #3 Posted September 23, 2020 Wife and I visited a number of years ago. I'll revisit one day: all my photos are on film, taken on Nikon F3. A Morgan owning friend who loves reasonably close can quite often be seen visiting - keep an eye out for a blue +
Charles Morgan Posted September 23, 2020 Share #4 Posted September 23, 2020 Hello Graham - hope you are well! Saw Tony Newby-Stubbs last week when I went up to Iver to get my house on the market. He's just had two enormous bills for his +4!

Unfortunately, large bills for motoring crop up occasionally! Good luck with the house sale. Hope you are enjoying Devon?
Charles Morgan Posted September 23, 2020 Share #8 Posted September 23, 2020 Devon is wonderful, now I can get out and see it! Much much more pleasant than the Slough area, although that bit further from Prescott, not that has been an issue this year (sadly).

Hopefully things will be better next year. We have been testing separation, but it is easier at Shelsley Walsh to keep the general public separated from the paddock area and marshals than for us...
Charles Morgan Posted September 24, 2020 Share #11 Posted September 24, 2020 It's a frustrating building to photograph - the side Pedaes shot above is north facing. The cloisters and monastery obscure the south side, and the surrounding buildings, the west. Leica M5, Zeiss C Biogon 35mm f2.8, HP5+ Welcome, dear visitor! boojum Posted September 30, 2020 Share #12 Posted September 30, 2020 Buckfast Abbey, the home of the Buckfast strain if honeybees, a popular performer. Nice to see the phptos.

boojum Posted September 30, 2020 Share #14 Posted September 30, 2020 Another case of all good things coming to an end. A reminder of our mortality. We used to get them Stateside. That strain was much debated. I am sorry that no one has picked up the work. I'll end here as I can get out of control talking about bees.

Charles Morgan Posted October 4, 2020 Share #16 Posted October 4, 2020 (edited) While Brother Adam passed away 20 years ago, the strain continues with many breeders. My father kept bees and had Buckfast bees in two of the three hives. The problem that the monastery has is few monks and most of considerable age. A transplant from other Benedictine communities is probable. But it is a beautiful, tranquil place. Leicaflex SL2, Summicron R 35mm f2, Fuji Pro400h Welcome, dear visitor!
