Fred C. Stadler Posted September 13, 2020 Share #1 Posted September 13, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) UHS-1 is the current cards that M's take and the new M-10 is no exception, but the current fast cards cards are UHS-II and the new standard is already out UHS-III. Why has Leica not upgraded? It is a disappointment considering the cost
Advertisement Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 Hi Fred C. Stadler, Take a look here M 10-R SD card reader. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lykaman Posted September 13, 2020 Share #2 Posted September 13, 2020 (edited) I would imagine that Leica like other electronic manufacturures have a R&D department.. Once the design & other details have been agreed & Signed Off and manufacture begins, the designs cannot be retro engineered.. somewhere there is a UHS 1111 in the pipeline as is a 75mp Leica on someones design/engineering board.. Whatever electronics we buy today is already being superseded/engineered in a R&D department.. This goes for Cars, Cameras, TV's a million and one other things we use in life.. jaapv Posted September 13, 2020 Share #3 Posted September 13, 2020 Write speed is determined by the processor. Leica M cameras are limited in that sense by heat management restrictions.mIn other words: the camera would not get any faster by using UHS-II or -III. 84bravo Posted September 14, 2020 Share #5 Posted September 14, 2020 I use UHS-II cards with my M10 cameras. Although there is no speed benefit with the camera, there is a speed benefit in uploading the images to my laptop with the proper card reader. When working on deadline every speed advantage helps.

I am using one in my M240 in fact. Just hoping for more when I update. Thanks to all for the help. Why do you miss UHS II speeds on an M10? I never had to wait on SD card when using M10 cameras. scott kirkpatrick Posted September 15, 2020 Share #7 Posted September 15, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I believe UHS ii cards work in an M10 because they also work even if they are put into a UHS i socket, which is what the M10 has, and certainly all that the M240 can offer. So in any of the present M cameras there will never be a speed advantage in writing to the SD chip. The advantage is only in uploading to your computer over a wired interface, and that only would matter if you take 100s of shots per day (which I don't often do).
