Brle Posted September 8, 2020 Share #1 Posted September 8, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello everyone,Please help, I have a leica r5 but when shooting the lens does not close the aperture. I put aperture 8 but when the shutter is released it does not close on aperture 8 ( shutting wide open only). The lens is summicron 50,V2 and Vario Elmar.Depth of field lever works well and smoothly and then closes on the set aperture. In the picture you can see which lever is the problem. Battery new, and the camera is in excellent condition! There is a solution or just a service.Thank youBorisSorry for the bad English Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 Hi Brle, Take a look here Leica R5 - aperture lever. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted September 8, 2020 Share #2 Posted September 8, 2020 Welcome to the forum. I’m sorry that I have to reply negatively. AFAIK it is impossible to repair and if it were it would be too expensive. There are no spare parts and it is quite a bit of work. If an R camera breaks down the best thing to do is to buy another one.
hamey Posted September 9, 2020 Share #3 Posted September 9, 2020 (edited) Hello Boris. I also echo Jaapv advice, as a long time Leica user since 1973 I still own several R models it's a pity that Leica turned it's back on us R users , they sold off all the parts. And don't want anything to do with us anymore except spend more of our money on their OVER PRICED items. You can buy R cameras pretty cheap now so that might be your best solution. For some consolation, M9 owners will be in the same situation no parts or very expensive to repair, at least Leica is offering some compensation by offering a deal on a newer model. This wasn't offered to us R owners when Leica announced that they are going to discontinue the R system. Good Luck. PS, You can still put Leica R cameras to good use. Welcome, dear visitor!
