I bought a D lux 7 3 months ago and my LCD screen misted up. I took it back to the Leica shop I bought it from and they told me they'd send it away and I'd get it back within a week. As I hadn't banging it in any way I assumed it would be under guarantee. Three weeks later they sent me an extimate of £221 to replace the screen. Did I want to go ahead?

Has anyone else suffered similarly?

Question is: why did it mist up? Moisture intrusion? The camera is not sold as watertight, that makes it a case for. insurance, not for guaranty.

Thanks for the reply. I used the wrong words to describe what happened.  It didn't 'mist up' it actually became full of vertical lines. I neither banged it nor did it get wet. I was using it as the the battery went flat. After recharging the screen was full of vertical lines

Sounds strange, did you purchase it new? from a Registered Leica Dealer?  As you don't say where you live, I would email Leica Corp and go from there.. I've never had a Leica dealer offer such a quick turnaround,  which service centre did they send it?   L
