What does it do ? From a 'pro' perspective: it allows the lens to be locked at infinity during transport or other shipping. From an 'anti' perspective: it continually gets in the way when focussing from infinity as you briefly wonder why you can't focus, remember, take the lock off, and then grit your teeth because you've missed the shot of the day. You might detect from what I've written that I don't like infinity locks. Pete.

You get used to it if they are fitted, but I never found them to have any 'use' as such. As Leica dropped the idea, I'm probably far from alone in this😉. Ernstk Posted January 24, 2021 Share #45 Posted January 24, 2021 No, it's not that one. Why are you convinced that it's a goggles lens? It's a non goggles, standard M mount production lens, one of a small batch of v2 lenses that had infinity lock. Ernst

What does it do ? 1. for a safety lock during mounting or dis-mounting your lens 2. on the collapse lenses(before 90'), infinity locked could be a safety mechanism for locking the focus helicoid prior collapse and extend your lens
