Popular Post Al Brown Posted August 14, 2020 Popular Post Share #1 Posted August 14, 2020 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) While cleaning up my old room I found this Leica "Paris Cafe" ad on my cupboard wall shot by Jeanloup Sieff. I still think it is one of the most beautiful Leica ads ever made. What are your favourites? Welcome, dear visitor! Like ISO A-series paper proportions. Great for Barnack-format pix though - 7x10 verticals and 10x14 2-page spreads (expanding to 5x7 and 14x20). In fact, the Barnack proportion (1:1.5, or 2:3) fits very nicely between the root-2 rectangle (1:1.4142...) and the "golden" rectangle (1:1.618....) - and is itself a "dynamic rectangle." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_rectangle#Root_rectangles https://howartworks.com/vlq-can-you-construct-a-√2-rectangle/ https://mathworld.wolfram.com/GoldenRectangle.html

adan Posted August 29, 2020 Share #17 Posted August 29, 2020 I don't know if the "Think camera" ad is the most beautiful - but it has been my favorite for nearly 50 years (I first saw it as a teen in the pages of the old Camera 35 magazine ca. 1971).
