John Miranda Posted August 4, 2020 Share #2 Posted August 4, 2020 These amazing tests have me thinking... A successful approach in high quality astro-imaging is to create a luminance channel with b&w only that best controls noise and a second channel (or 3 channels, with RGB). The luminance helps grab sharp details while managing noise, and integrated, the color can accentuate color onto the image. Ok, so for those who have a M10M and M10R, given the shared fundamental sensor technologies - one with Bayer filter and the other without, one could use each camera the M10M for luminance and the M10R to capture color. Freeware such as Registax can stack the images (as can PS) to register the two for star rotation and movement between the two images. It might take more work, but I imagine in the Fall, to capture the Milky Way with some foreground object, a dark site lake with a reflected Milky Way, for example, could create an amazing high resolution print.... There are also small mounts that can track the camera, but these could be bothered by switching bodies... John
