Advertisement Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Hi M10Alpine, Take a look here M10 (and M10D) Discontinued [Merged]. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
M10Alpine Posted August 18, 2020 Share #62 Posted August 18, 2020 (edited) Why would Leica discontinue the M10-D? Was that not released in 2019? After looking seams it was released October 2018. I got mine in January 2019. Thats a very short life cycle on the shelf. Makes little sense unless it was a huge flopp. The Leica Photos App sucks but the camera is amazing. I'm a bit puzzled. What version of fotos are you using? 2.1 is the latest in basic and pro (you have to pay extra for pro). I can't find anything wrong with it.

A pity Leica couldn't do something similar, but maybe they're working on it.

So Leica is not for me because I don’t want a 5-year life span $6000 camera? I bought my first Leica maybe 25 years ago, so don't assume if it is for me or not. Well to be fair they did offer special trade in pricing for that camera so it’s not $6000 in 5 years...
lmans Posted October 6, 2020 Share #67 Posted October 6, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I like the M10-D but my concern is how long will it last? .... If someone stated Leica will have some sensors on supply etc... what happens when they go? If you have a camera, keep it...but if you are looking at buying one ($7,000+), is it worth buying knowing that once some supplies go by the wayside, the camera might be done....thoughts? jim

The M10-D is a mere two years ahead, not really a significant amount of time as far as availability of parts, etc. The M8 (2006) and M9 (2009) are another story, now obviously ancient by digital standards, but still happily used by people like me, who can live with the risk.
HELM Posted October 8, 2020 Share #71 Posted October 8, 2020 I'm hopeful that my M10D is my last Leica. Have taken it skiing, sailing offshore and general travel backpack abuse, the lack of a screen makes it the first camera I grab. I have a 50+mp Canon SLR and except for long lenses it sits there. I'll hold out for the M14D :-)
CosmoM3 Posted October 8, 2020 Share #72 Posted October 8, 2020 I bought mine recently brand new for $7,500 and no regrets. Sold my M10-P for it.

So do I, but I am afraid, this is wishful thinking, because eventually the electronics or the sensor reach the end of lifetime, much earlier compared with the mechanical Ms cameras. Even a old M6 with a defunct light meter is still a solid tool for the years to come, a M10-D with any electronic defect continues as expensive paper weight. It as well to remember that we are all complex beings that can stop working at any time so it is entirely possible that the M10-D could outlast us. Stop worrying and get out and enjoy a very rugged camera.
