I've loved my M10 &  M10P, and the color rendering that comes out of the sensor. I also think that the Q2 shares the same color profile and find it satisfying as well. Since the introduction of the SL2 and now the R, the high resolution has compromised the color output from my perspective. I'm not a technical person, so it's only my opinion. I've been a Leica fanboy since the introduction of the M9 and have been beyond fortunate to have traded camera gear over the years to afford these magical photographic jewels. When Leica moved from the CCD to the CMOS platform, they were still able to maintain the excellent Leica look. This new direction seems to be taking them down the wrong pathway. Even though there's something to be said for cropping an image in post, I'm afraid the Leica color has been sacrificed for the higher resolution's benefits!  All that said, I do love the M10M and the B&W imagery that its producing... Please don't beat me for this opinion. Again I'm just a fortunate soul, who's been blessed to own this fantastic gear.

I ask myself would this ( or any) upgrade make me a better photographer, improve my photography....  enable me to catch that moment?  Make me less of a lazy photographer? And the realistic answer is probably no.

No it won't - though it'll possibly initially get used more as it's a 'new tory', and using a camera is never a bad idea.

What does make the Leica different is the viewfinder, and I think Leica could make some improvements in that area. It would be nice to have electronic framelines that just showed a single frame for a coded lens rather than a pair of them - and if a lens isn't coded then show the pair based on the cam. Some allowance could also be made for the frameline size changing with focussing distance.

A resounding NO vote.  The camera on my phone is now sufficient for a large percentage of pictures.  Movies too!  The CL handles the rest.  There are no longer any M’s in my future, digital or otherwise.  It was a fun ride though.

I am interested in the M10-R, but will wait for pictures and opinions. My interest comes from the fact that I have an M(240), and I think it would be a big leap to go to the M10-R : silent shutter, better rangefinder and telemeter, higher sensitivity, and of course higher definition. But, wit and see.... Maybe in 2021 ?

Will no one ever admit definitively that the eMperor is no longer wearing clothes?

I write this as someone who has owned and loved quite a few M cameras.  Beginning with the M3, through the M6 and onto, eventually, the M, the M9, and lastly the M10P.  So the old "fool me once, fool me twice..." wore itself out on me. Loving fool that I am.

What cured me of my lifetime's love, which turned to folly?  The CL, and the Q and then Q2.  All of which I own.  Which I consider THE cameras of the moment, if not the future.

It's 2020, and Leica itself has proven the M to be a dinosaur.  And their latest Mischief making, putting this MAGNUM BONZO sensor in a camera to which an EVF still has to be attached externally, is like putting a Tesla engine in a Brontosauras.  Please, Leica.  Let the M retire honorably and put your ingenuity more fully into the "advanced" cameras you are already making.  So beautifully making.

I would like to own the M 10 monochrome and of course the new r and every single summilux and summicron lenses and the new Q2 too¡¡, but I will be buying lenses and cameras 100% better than the photographer behind the cam . In this moment I'm really happy with my CL , the 11-23 , the 35 1.4 and my Rokor 90. This team is only a 90% better than me as a photographer, so really happy 😉

I currently have the standard M10 as well as the M10 Monochrom. Based on reviews of the M10-R as well as my experience using the M10 Monochrom, I am certain the sensor in the M10-R is a substantial improvement over the original sensor found in the other color models. I think it would be well worth the cost of upgrade but, having recently purchased and still learning my way around the Monochrom, I will wait awhile before upgrading from the M10 to the higher resolution model. As for the resolution itself, it is the same as with cars and motorcycles: the additional torque and horsepower are not needed, but no one ever turns them down! Besides, the 40 MP sensor files are not so large as to affect LR performance, as far as I can tell.

I have sold my M9 and M(240) recently to purchase a SL2. I will not buy another M until there is IBIS and an option for a state of the art Visoflex.

I use my Ms semi-professionally and there is nothing worse than missed focus on an otherwise great shot. I need a more friendly focusing system for my fashion work than a RF now that pixels are up and my eyes are old and down. I love the rendering of my M lenses so I like to use them but there is a saying that its better to have no photo than a blurry photo. Hence, IBIS and a 6 mill dot EVF, please. This is now a minimum expectation for serious photo work and, arguably, negligent if you have soft images, charge for your work and don't produce sharp properly exposed images 99% of the time. If the technology is there, you better damn well use it. Its like operating on someone without diagnostic imaging to show you the way. Did not have it 50 years ago and we were fine but more film was wasted and more people died than we would admit.

A M11 needs to grow with better dynamic range, IBIS and cutting edge EVF. At 2x or more in price than a comparable Canon or Nikon, Leica needs to step up and offer the choice. Then, they can have more of my hard earned money.

Sadly no improvement to the ergonomics. The current finger loop option is clunky and only on the left. The old Titan M9 had a finger loop which attached directly to the camera on the right. This gave one a firm hold and allowed one handed shooting. It's about time that Leica offered the same on the current Ms.

I use a wrist strap on the right hand side of the camera and a grip. Works fine for one handed shooting if that’s important.

Well said, indeed.
