Very satisfied with the M10. Sometimes a little better cropping ability would be handy for streetphotography, but most of the time the 24 MP fullframe sensor is more than enough. And then, when I think about what else I could do with eight thousand Euros ...

I would have replied, "yes, of course", but then read the above comments and so now realise that the course does not have everyone on it. I have an M10 and a Q2, love them both passionately but cannot keep my hands off the M10. The blessing of a higher-resolution sensor is for me the draw of the R; the fact that it isn't otherwise very different from the M10 is the reassurance. I'm not attracted to the undoubtedly fine SL2 because of its size and the size of its lenses. (I migrated to Leica from the Sony A7rIII and Zeiss Batis partly so that I could be less conspicuous.) The only sticking point keeping me from the R is the price, but I suspect that's only a temporary impediment!

I own one! To my astonishment I received it one day after ordering it. I had to wait for 12 months for its predecessor, the M10. I am a portrait photographer and have been using the Fujifilm 100 gfx on location but it is a big beast to carry around. On many assignments I am hoping to use the M10-R with a single speedlight in future. I used the M10 for work, but also for personal projects. I know there are cheaper non-Leica alternatives but somehow I always take my best snaps with the Leica. I was tempted by the Monochrom R when it came out but I don't want to carry two cameras and sometimes I need colour. I am hoping that converting to mono from the 10-R will give me good results. I am pleased so far.

I bought my first Leica because I read an article about what people wish on their deathbed. 'I wish I had spent more time with my family' etc. I thought that I was OK on most of the common wishes, but I wasn't going to be lying there wishing I had bought a Leica!

I’m probably not the right demographic for this camera. Too expensive, large file sizes are nice but a pain to process on my older pc. I’ll maybe get a secondhand M10-r in 10 years. I have an M240 which I use for fun and a Sony A7rII if I need a bigger file size and more capable sensor.

I couldn’t afford the new camera even if I wanted one, so it’s just as well that I’m happy with my M240. I’ve no need for the added resolution, and there are times even with the M240 that I think the images have too much of a ‘medium format’ look to them.

40mp Higher resolution is always a plus point. However if it sacrifices low light performance, then I would choose 24mp.

I would also wait until a ‘P’ version comes out.

I think Leica is definitely going in the right direction with some interesting cameras being released as of lately.

I shoot mainly B/W with the 10M and have the SL as a backup camera for colour. I have thought about buying the R for  colour but the ‘improvements’ appear not to be substantial enough for me to want to replace the benefits of using my  SL.  The 10m and SL are both fantastically  designed and performing cameras which no doubt will age gracefully.  The R appears to simply be a Mercedes dressed up by AMG......maximizing the ‘grunt’ out of the constraints of a design, which for some is exactly the added performance  they we’re looking for.

I'm interested, the dynamic range and highlight recovery capability is very exciting.

And as someone who often crops an image, the 40MP would enable me to carry fewer lenses while traveling.  This of course assumes we will eventually be allowed to travel the world again in some reasonable time frame eg before the M11 comes out.

If we can still take great pictures with M9, and I am already a M240 user, unless professionally one needs the high resolution for larger formats , I would not buy a camera with higher resolution. The problem is that higher resolution is higher file size, bigger storage space, new computers etc.. so it is accelerating the whole obsolescence cycle which I do not support, independently from the price point.

I'm not interested.  While the quality might be the best there is, the new products in the M system are more than I can afford.   At this point in my life, I want image stabilization and autofocus for lenses longer than 35mm.

Not interested, for the same reasons.

Last year I purchased the M10-D and I just purchased the M10-Monochrome while my M10-D was sent to Wetzlar Park for servicing.  I thought that Leica had really hit its mark with the M10 Monochrom at 41 megapixels only to find out that some decision makers of Leica have taken on the "Apple" mindset to production.  They increased the megapixels in the "M" system for the Monochrom only to put the color channels back in the camera to confuse it's market base.  Pure Leica enthusiasts are scratching our heads while the Gear junkies are chasing down every model.

I often look at my M2 that was given to me by my father in 1977 when I took photography classes in school and wonder how did we get here..  Just to think the M8 almost tanked Leica when it got into the digital sphere and the M9 saved them ( I had an M9 too).  Eventually we will get back to taking pictures and stop worrying about huge product release dates......another Apple methodology for increasing sales.

I am Leica through and through but we need to take a serious look at what we are trying to accomplish.  Leica competes with no one but itself right now.

Last week the Leica M10-R was introduced, meanwhile there is a lot of information and opinion about the camera.

What is your opinion? Interested in the Leica M10-R?

Please vote above and comment below!

I have an M8, two Leitz lenses, one VL lens and two Jupiter, I think I'll wait till a second hand market.
