Hi all,

I am confronted with an annoying issue with R lenses.  Let me first state that I did clean the lens code detection area several times.

When swapping a coded M lens with an R lens with the R to M Leica adapter everything works as expected with Live View (back screen or EVF)and I can take pictures normally.  When Live View is switched off automatically after time or I power down the camera manualy, the M10 goes into an unexpected state.  The EVF or back screen goes dark gray and the camera freezes.  The trick with a battery removal does not work.  The only thing to make the M10 wake up out of coma is to mount a coded M lens (an uncoded M lens does not work).

So the procedure that works is the following :

  1. power on the M10
  2. remove coded M lens
  3. mount an R lens with the coded adapter
  4. take pictures
  5. as soon as the camera freezes mount an Coded M lens without powering off the camera
  6. goto step 2

I also noticed that the problem only arises with the R to M adapter which by the way is also coded.  I do not experience this lockup with uncoded M lenses or LTM lenses with a LTM to M mount.  And also only when lens detection is in auto.  If I switch lens detection off the R lenses work just fine with the camera not freezing

It sounds like a software/firmware issue to me that is related to what the camera does when it detects an R lens.  This problem also started when I mounted for the first time the 28-90 R and selected the appropriate R lens profile.  Before this lens I used the 100 R macro without a glitch, but after mounting and selecting the 28-90 profile the 100 also triggers this lockup

Any Ideas ?
