Guinness light sounds as awful as Cherry coke!! 1

When I was a kid (over 60 years ago), it was common for drugstore lunch counters or restaurants to offer to add a squirt of cherry syrup (also used on snow cones) to Cokes from fountain soda machines. It was a popular ‘thing’ long before Coca Cola formalized it. No surprise I haven’t had a cola drink of any kind since my teens. Jeff

There was a big US influence on the base and it's there that I first heard of and tasted a coca cola float (coke with vanilla ice cream). I do have the occasional coke now but never with ice cream of any flavour!!! 🤮
tom.w.bn Posted July 9, 2020 Share #48 Posted July 9, 2020 I'll laugh so hard when after all that speculation a Leica M special edition (Hermes oder Drifter or whatever) for 20k will be announced.

Never heard of a Coke float, although surely someone improvised occasionally. Jeff
IkarusJohn Posted July 9, 2020 Share #50 Posted July 9, 2020 When we were kids, we were sometimes allowed a “spider” - vanilla icecream, coke and whipped cream. I can’t imagine having one now. But then I’ve since discovered affogato ...
jdlaing Posted July 9, 2020 Share #51 Posted July 9, 2020 Dairy Queen has been serving Coca Cola blended with ice cream for over 60 years.
Jeff S Posted July 9, 2020 Share #52 Posted July 9, 2020 As long as we’re jointly OT, I’m reminded of drinking ‘Egg Creams’, which contained neither eggs nor cream; rather, chocolate syrup, milk.and carbonated soda water... in that order. And yes I know others don't care for this. I would. I haven't thought of or seen one for ages and now suddenly I'm craving it!! I only ever drink coke these days if it's mixed with spiced rum or bourbon. Now there's an idea......... marknorton Posted July 9, 2020 Share #56 Posted July 9, 2020 Well if they put out a teaser invitation like that, it had better be something special, not some sort of cosmetic vanity trip. These days, I use a Nikon Z7 with my M and R glass. Compared to an M10, double the resolution and about a third of the price. I did go back to my M8s and M9s last week to check for failing LCDs (M8 - none) and sensor corrosion (M9 - none) and I was shocked to be reminded of what we thought was state of the art 10-15 years ago...

I grew up on the US east coast, mid-Atlantic. US cuisine is very regional, so I’m sure there are/were all kinds of concoctions I never heard of, including Coke floats. darylgo Posted July 9, 2020 Share #60 Posted July 9, 2020 West coast had root beer floats, never coke floats. The eateries that featured this stuff were disappearing fast when I was growing up and I am guessing you have me beaten on age 🙂
