Leica M8.2/90mm Leica/Minolta 4.0 with IR filter.  Went to a camera shop and got to try it out. It's teeny and kind of heavy for its size. Loved the weight of the focus ring,

Leica M8.2/90mm Summicron 2.0 (pre apo) What a beautiful lens, looked awesome on the M8 Had a IR filter as well. I think this was 2.0 Taken at the same camera shop. I got to try the Minolta/Leica/Summicron and the fat 90mm which is nothing of the sort all in one day! Great camera shop day.

For the record, the "wheat"was getting tossed around by very strong winds. So focusing was fun and challenging.

Leica M8.2/90mm "fat" lens, after coming from Medium Format, it's funny to see what's considered a big lens on a Leica, beautiful lens as well. This was the first camera store I visited otherwise you all would have had wheat shots all day long 🙂 They all were wonderful to shoot.

FWIW "fat" did not mean "big" but the opposite of "thin" as far as Tele-Elmarit 90/2.8 variants are concerned. Both fat and thin Tele-Elmarits are compact lenses anyway. The big 90 was the Summicron v1 or v2 at Leica. Here 90/2 v2 (left) together with 90/2 apo and 90/4 macro.

I see you came up with the best solution get them all 🙂 How do you decide on which one fits the moment that you are going for?

My favorite for now is this Elmarit 90/2.8 v1 in LTM mount from the sixties, that matches superbly 2 other LTM lenses, a Summicron 35/2 v1 and a Summicron 50/2 v1 i acquired recently. Nobody's perfect 🙄

You must have thought: to avoid the risk that I use my 90 not often enough, which is a bit innate with a 90 on an M, I’ll take care that I have so much 90’s that I stumble over them occasionnaly.

Risk of using a 90 not often enough has never been innate for me. Got my first one in the eighties fo my M4-2, a Canadian variant of the "thin" Tele-Elmarit 90/2.8, then an Elmarit 90/2.8 v1, then a v2 of it, then a Summicron 90/2 v3, a Macro-Elmar 90/4, a Summicron 90/2 apo, etc., etc. Shorter to list lenses i don't own: Summarex 85/1.5, Summilux 90/1.5, Sonnar 85/2 and a superb Jupiter 85/2 that broke on me but all hope of completing my little stable is not lost 😋

Here's how my 9cm F4 Elmar looks mounted on my M10 - a bit silly :) I also found a lens hood and cap for it, so its maybe 2cm longer with that fitted.

Apologies for the terrible iphone photo.
