See attached image. Brand new M10M it either fell off immediately or wasn’t there when I opened it. Disappointed. How can I replace without dreadedly returning camera to Germany?

I believe that’s the screw that covers the rangefinder adjustment. You should ask for a replacement.

I would just put a piece of tape over it to keep dust out until it arrives. No harm.

I had the frame selector lever go missing on my recently purchased-on-Ebay second-hand M10.  I sent an email to Leica customer service and they apologized that it had happened and sent me a new frame lever and screw at no charge.  I'm sure they will do the same for the screw you need, especially for a NEW camera!

You're right. That should be easily solved by the dealer. No need for the new owner to bother himself about it.

You were right, it is that. Where do I go to get this. Dealers don't have this? Dealers aren't even open now is the problem.

Read what I said in post 4!  You will probably get the screw from Leica in less than a week.  Send customer service an email.  I sent the email about two weeks ago. they immediately responded stating they would send me the parts  and I had them at no charge 6 days later.

I should clarify that I contacted Leica customer service in the USA.  If you are not in the USA, I don't know if the prompt results would be duplicated or not.

Can you recommend a link. Their support page requires a degree to follow. Am I downloading a PDF? What year are we in Leica?

Their offices aren't even open. What a disappointing opening to a $9k camera. That should not fall out on day one.

Call Leica USA and ask for Dave Elwell.

I had a similar incident with my M246 Monochrom range finder adjustment cover screw. I happened  to be a couple days later in London and visited the Mayfair shop, they had a look at it, called their technician, and said the would order one and send it to me directly. This happened couple days before UK went into lockdown. None the less I received the screw (black) in about two weeks....... Very happy at the service.

Things like that cost pennies to make and sending one for free is probably a whole lot cheaper than raising an invoice on a single order. It also means the repair department and  administration isn't clogged up with very minor repairs.

How did this end? With the free screw arriving, me attempting to put it in, it getting lodged in on an angle, me scratching up the screw face, and a scratch on the face of the new M10M. This "screw" isn't deep enough to actual turn with any driver sold on the public market.

My options now? Send it to Leica and wait forever for it to be "fixed", and still have a cosmetic scratch. Demand seller exchange for a new one, but he doesn't have any more, and he's in Hong Kong, complicating the cost of the exchange and duration even further.

Final feeling on this? Garbage. I think I will etch my feelings into the face of the metal plate that holds the screw with a sharp tiny screw driver and call it a piece of free speech against the boring and tiresome myth that this company is somehow magical in its devotion to quality and craftsmanship. I have had 50 other new and 50 other vintage cameras from Fuji Canon Olympus SONY and more, none showed up with such a simple defect, and they all cost fractions.

This looks bad - screw not aligned, wrong driver and too then too much force. To avoid such damage, use a plastic driver as they are used for the trimming of ferrite cores of old radios. Or take a wooden coffee stirrer and bring into correct shape with a knife.
