Ok  …. after a bit of digging . 1:06:24 on the attached link.

I think (for me) it was the description of it "only" being capable and old and not cutting edge.

Non of that is necessarily off putting but it`s hardly an enthusiastic recommendation .

Seems they were comparing it to the Summilux and the Thambar... the Lux being twice the weight and three times the price and the Thambar being quite specialist.   Yes, they very much recommended the Summilux as The 90.

I have no Summilux 90 or Thambar but i have a couple 90mm M lenses (90/2 apo, 90/2 v3, 90/2 v2, 90/2.4, 90/2.8 v1, 90/2.8 v2, 90/2.8 "thin", 90/4 v1, 90/4 C, 90/4 macro) besides a R 90/2 pre-apo and a Rokkor 90/4 for Minolta CLE and all can say is the 90/2 apo is the sharper at f/2 and f/2.8 and it works fine on the CL. It is a bulky lens on the latter though. My favorite on the CL is the 90/4 macro. FWIW.

Yes  …. well there was that  :)

I suppose what put doubt in my mind was that I`ve never really been happy with the Elmarit and I just wondered whether Leica had a problem  …. for want of a better description with the 90fl.

Daft really I suppose.

The M 90 is attractive because ,of course ,I can also use it on my M film bodies and also on my A7R2.

Just wondered if I was missing a trick and needed some up to date perspective .

Thank you

That's a few 90`s then :)

As I said in the previous I wanted some perspective because I haven`t followed M lens development for a few years .

Just wondered if I`d missed something .

The M90 is certainly a more practical solution for me because I can use it on two platforms .

Thanks again for the advice .

Love it... you make me able to forgive myself for having the 90 APO, a very dirty but useful 90 2.8 TE (thin), yet still buying the 90SL.
