Now there’s a scene made for a 28mm lens! My shot was taken on Tuesday and after walking through Calton Hill, Royal Mile, Victoria Street, the Vennel, Dean Village then training it to and from the Forth Bridge, it was quite taxing on the knees but still all achieved in a day thanks to London City Airport. It’s ridiculous that you can now leave before breakfast, take all that in and and be back in time for dinner. I trust you weren’t as silly as me in that regard and took things a bit more leisurely.

Mine was taken just 5 days prior to that. Spooky!

Unfortunately our journey - by train - was of the 'Special Delivery from Hell' variety including having our 'original' train cancelled 8 mins before departure; our 'replacement' being delayed at various points on the way up to the tune of an extra 3 1/2 hours (of what should have been a four 1/2 hour trip!) and, finally, having to find hotel acccommodation for four in Newcastle-upon-Tyne at 10 o'clock at night due to our train - as well as three other London-Edinburgh trains - being 'terminated' unexpectedly at that station. These trains were crammed with passengers which meant that there were some 2,500 travellers who were in roughly the same situation as ourselves so finding rooms took a while to arrange. We arrived in Edinburgh, at long last, over 22 hours after leaving London...

Fortunately we were up for a week so still managed to have a great time.

Anyhow; to avoid being labelled as a Habitual Track-Derailer here is the reverse shot of the other. M Monochrom / 28 Elmarit once again;

Wow, a lifetime memory for the family, albeit not the sort one volunteers for and I am sorry that had to be experienced. Perhaps in a photographic sense, one could say perhaps that you may not have got some of the shots made when you were there at the specific moments in time had that ‘diversion’ not been made? In any event, at least it’s done now. I can tell that your reverse shot was taken at a different time of day to when mine was as the water appears a bit more choppy. I also remember getting a mini complex about the composition, wondering whether the shot would be better taken from the middle or end of the bridge from where your shot was taken (it ultimately didn’t matter as it’s a fantastic setting). Anyway, I shall post that shot here later to avoid getting into trouble too.
