Thanks again for this forum and the help and support it provides.  I know many Leica owners are against the use of half cases either because they're happy for the camera to pick up some scrapes and dings or because a case adds some bulk.  Personally  I try to protect my expensive investment as best as I can and on other camera models I've owned (M9, Q, CL), and a M-P 240 I own I have always fitted them with a half-case. This is providing I have easy access to the battery/SD compartment, as it can be a little tedious having to remove a case to gain access, then remove the base plate etc.  This for me was particularly important with the M10 as the battery life is more limited than the other models.  The only case I could find with this feature was the Arte di Mano case which for me was too costly until scouting this Forum where I found this case supplied in the UK by Student Photo Store on eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/studentphotostore?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2754, it sells for £90.

The case arrived this morning packaged in a nice box and for me looks and feels great. The leather is good and nice to the touch and the design includes a grip as well as the access door as previously mentioned.  I want the understated black with black stitching but it is available in dark brown and black with red stitching.   If you need the access door feature and don't want to spend £300 on a case, this is worth a look.    I also just bought the equally understated but practical adjustable Leica strap, version 18575; so now raring to go.

Looks nice and practical. And how are you liking the summarit 50?

Hi, yes I'm very pleased with the Summarit. I like its compact size and the results are very good.  A Cron would probably be better but buying this allowed me to buy a 28mm Elmarit which I also like.

I bought the brown version of this case from a US eBay seller last September. Previously used an A&A case, but this is as well made and the bottom flap for battery and card is very convenient.

I have essentially the same case. The seller on eBay is https://ebay.com/usr/halfcaseny

The only thing I don't like is the front grip part. It's L shaped and that makes it awkward to hold. I found that if use a clamp (when of the camera!) to compress the leg of the L, and then let it sit overnight, it will reduce its height.

I have a very similar half case I am now using on my M10. I agree on the front grip, I could do without it. The other thing I like about this case is it doesn't have the leather loops with snaps over the lugs, which I find to be redundant and more material to get in the way. The brass nut that screws into the bottom of the camera actually secures the half case to the camera, so why have the loops over the lugs. Sort of belt and suspenders.

Yeah I noticed that difference from the OP's case. I could not agree with you more on that.

I waited 6 weeks for a case from Arte di Mano. This is just as good (except for the grip part) and a fourth of the price.

(why did I get a second case? That was for the M10-D that I decided, uh, "wasn't quite for me." Now I don't know what to do with the dang thing.)
