Some recent shots from Machu Picchu.
I was lucky to get a special government  permit to shoot before it was opened to public.
I just had to edit out all security guards spread across the panoramic scenes (7 max).  We shot for 4 days up there. Climate was changing quickly we had a lot of luck specially because we had a lot of video gear that would be hard to conceal of the heavy rain.

Nice shots and you were lucky to have been there without the tourists, at times it can be like Piazza San Marco in Venice!

Here's a shot I took about ten years ago after a eight day trek though the mountains to the site on one of the the old Inca Trails. It was taken with a pinhole camera so with the long exposure most people didn't register.

A lovely set.  When we were there it was before the government greatly limited access.  We arrived in the early afternoon and toured the site with a guide.  We stayed at the hotel adjacent to the site so we could get on site nearly two hours before the busses from Aguas Caliente began arriving.  We went to the entrance at 5:50 even thought the site didn't open 'til 6:00, and the guard let us in.  we immediately went to Huayna Picchu and climbed it.  The site was so empty that the first people we saw was on the way down from the peak, near the bottom.  We then had plenty of time to enjoy, view and photograph the site with only hotel guests around.  None of my photos have any people in them.
